Knoxville
This weekend we were the 2nd to last car out to qualify on a slick track. We ended up 14th. We then finished 2nd in our heat and started 12th in the feature race. Unfortunately the track "took rubber", meaning there was one groove that was about like driving on pavement. When the tracks get this way, it is almost impossible to pass and the races end up being a single file freight train. We did some things to the car hoping to be able to pass a few cars outside the rubber, but our plan didn't work and we even ended up losing a couple of spots and finished 15th. This weekend we are racing in Jackson, MN on Friday, and are scheduled to race in WI on Sat. for Doc Probst, but after struggling a bit at Knoxville that last two weeks our crew chief is pushing to run our car at Knoxville on Saturday again. After this weekend, I don't think we'll have another chance to race Knoxville again until the weekend before the Nationals in Aug.
Thanks,
Ricky

West Memphis
Due to severe weather setting in over the weekend, ASCS has already canceled the two day event scheduled for West Memphis the 23rd and 24th. Unfortunately the weather looks bad for any tracks within about a 10 hour drive from our location so we're going to use the weekend to bring the truck and trailer back to the shop after being on the road the last 6 or 7 weeks and reorganize. We'll have a schedule for the next few weeks posted soon, but I think we'll be able to stay close to Iowa the next 3 or 4 weeks.
Thanks,
Ricky

Friday down in KY we were one of the last cars to qualify at the WOO race and we ended up qualifying 26th. We started our heat race from the 4th row and just missed finishing 5th for the last transfer spot into the feature. We then started the "B" main from the 4th row again and got up to 5th, all over the 4th place car, but just couldn't pull off the pass. We ended up making a mistake in the last corner while giving a 4th place run once last effort and got passed bumping us back to a 6th place finish. Sat. we were the last car out for time trials and ended up 16th. We then won our heat race by a large margin and started 10th in the feature. After about 5 laps we had moved up to 6th when the car in front of us lost control, or should I say lost more control than usual because this particular driver is always out of control, and we just clipped him cutting down our right rear tire. We then went to the back of the field with a new tire and worked our way back up to 8th. This weekend we're back down south in Arkansas racing at West Memphis with the ASCS in the Rock-N-Roll 50.
Thanks,
Ricky

Both nights this past weekend we drew towards the back of our heat races and both nights we had to run the "B" main. Friday we started 6th in the "B" and finished 2nd, almost passing for the win on the last lap. We then started 20th in the "A" feature and worked our way up to around mid field when the track conditions changed and our car became way too tight, basically meaning it wouldn't turn the corners. We fought it the last half of the race and managed to still finish 14th. Sat. night we weren't so lucky though. On the first lap of our heat race we made some contact with another car bending some of the front end pieces causing me to have a steering issue. We ended up spinning out twice and had to retire to the pits. We then started 8th in our "B" feature and on the first start we came off turn 2 in 3rd, but the start was called back because another car jumped the start. Going into turn 3 before the next start, the outside pole car started waving his arm like the caution light was on which would mean there wouldn't be a start on that lap. From the position I was in I couldn't see the lights so I trusted the driver waving his arm, but as it turned out apparently he was just trying to get a good jump on the cars in the outside row behind him because after speaking with a driver that was on the inside row and could see the lights, he said there was never any reason for him to think the race wasn't going to start on that lap. The driver's plan worked for him as the outside row didn't go at first which gave him a huge jump and caused me to fall way back right away. We made up some ground, but was not able to get to 2nd place which was the last transfer spot for the "A" feature. This weekend we're running a World Of Outlaws event in KY, then going up to WI to drive for Doc Probst on Sat. at an IRA race.
Thanks,
Ricky
