At Granite City we started 4th row of our heat and finished 4th which put us in the 8 car redraw for our feature starting position. We ended up starting 5th. On the start the two front row cars tried to kill each other and caused a huge crash. We just missed the crash, but ran over something bouncing across the track and punctured our right rear tire sending us to the back for the restart. We passed a few cars but the track took rubber about half way through and turned into a single file event. We ended up 15th. Sat. night at Little Rock we started 4th row of our heat again and finished 2nd which made us the high point car after the heats. In the redraw we ended up 5th again. We ran most of the feature race around 5th, but our car got real loose the last few laps and we ended up finishing 8th. Not what we wanted, but better than the luck we've had the last few races. This weekend I'm driving for Doc Probst in WI, then coming back to Knoxville to run the 410. Hope to see you there!

Nationals
Another Knoxville Nationals is over. As always, a lot of teams left town disappointed, and a few teams left on a high! We had some mechanical issues the week of the 360 Nationals and we were just off a little in time trials during the 410 Nationals. Overall we didn't meet our goals this year, but we definitely could have done a lot worse. Now the preparation for next years' Nationals begins. It was awesome to see a new face in victory lane and the winner, Tim Shaffer, has paid his dues and 100% earned his spot on top the podium! It wasn't that long ago Tim broke his neck during a ugly crash in turn 1 at Knoxville. I bet as he road off in the ambulance that evening a few years ago, he never would have guessed he would come back to win the 50th Anniversary of the Knoxville Nationals. A good lesson to anyone in a struggle.....never give up!
On another good note, I received a phone call from Travis Rilat last night. He's doing well and sounded great. As long as there's not any complications the next couple of weeks, they're planning to move him to the Dallas area, where he's from, soon. He has already blown right past all expectations of his Dr.s. If anyone wants to donate to his family, the Perez family or Wayne Johnson, any amount of help would be greatly appreciated.
We're taking this weekend off, then will be at Granite City, IL and Little Rock, AR next weekend.
Thanks for stopping by,
Ricky

After a long trip, we're finally back to Iowa. We had a good time in WA, but we had trouble getting up to speed in OR. For some reason we were a step or two behind the track all weekend. This weekend we head to another new track for us, but at least it's in the midwest. We'll be racing at LA Raceway in LaMonte, MO.

Sorry I'm a little late this getting things updated. It's been a crazy last few days and a racing report hasn't been a priority. First Wayne Johnson broke his ankle racing Sat. night, then in a tragic accident away from the track, Travis Rilat and his mechanic, Tyson Perez were seriously burned. Unfortunately Tyson lost the battle to his injuries. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I visited with Travis yesterday and he has a very long road to recovery but he's a fighter and his spirits are high. Even though he can't talk right now because of his tracheal intubation, he was able to give me a nice hand gesture letting me know he was glad to see me. For anyone that has even an extra dollar they could send his family, they will need help for a very long time. Soon as I get information on where funds can be sent, I'll post it for anyone interested.
Keep both families in your prayers.
Thanks,
Ricky
